Aroma: Minor cocoa, light smokiness, low raisan and licorice. Minor alcohol 7/12

Appearance: Very dark brown to black. Opaque. Light tan head with excellent retention. 3/3

Flavor: Moderate hop bitterness and medium citrus hop flavor. Low overall malt character with very low dark roast, light raisan, and a hint of smoke. Dry and clean. Balance is toward hop bitterness. The aftertaste has a light citrus hop flavor and low dark roast malt. 14/20

Mouthfeel: Medium body with slight creaminess. Moderate carbonation. Moderate alcohol warmth. 4/5

Overall Impression: Dry, hoppy, and bitter, with a subtle dark malt background. The alcohol warmth is a little high, but otherwise the 2021 edition is another good addition to the Anchor Christmas ale tradition. 7/10
