Canned on: 7/31/19
Tasting on: 9/2/19
Glass: Tulip
Aroma: Overtones of moderate pineapple and cherry. Undertones of moderate saltiness. A very good approximation of the aroma of a pineapple upside-down cake. 9.5/10
Appearance: Light gold with excellent clarity. Bright white head with small to fine bubbles and good retention. 8.5/10
Flavor: Medium sourness in the beginning. The middle is dry with medium pineapple and low cherry that clash instead of complement each other as in the aroma. The pineapple continues in the end along with a suggestion of sweetness. Moderate sourness in the aftertaste. 16.5/20
Mouthfeel: Light body. Moderate carbonation. No alcohol. 8.5/10
Overall Impression: As a fan of pineapple upside-down cake, I’m glad that a brewery (or two breweries) decided to make this beer, but the results are mixed. The aroma is spot on, but the pineapple and cherry clash in the flavor and can’t live up to the aroma. 42/50
Final Score: 85% B-
