Tasting on: 2/21/16
Glass: Pilsner
Aroma: Overtones of medium bread crust. Undertones of minor caramel and hops, along with some smoked/peat notes. 7.5/10
Appearance: Amber with golden highlights, excellent clarity. Off-white head with moderate retention. 8/10
Flavor: A whisper of hop bitterness in the beginning followed by minor dark malt sweetness in the middle, along with moderate amounts of dry, somewhat artificial-tasting caramel. The end has an artificial smoked/peat malt characteristic along with minor hop bitterness, both of which linger in the aftertaste with a hint of dull caramel and brown rice. 13/20
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation. 8/10
Overall Impression: The smoked/peat characteristics in the malt profile are surprising and interesting at first, but quickly get tiring and taste artificial, which makes the beer difficult to drink. 30/50
