Doppelschwarz with Cherry
BJCP Style:  4C. Schwarzbier
ABV: 8.5%
IBU: 27
Bottled
Tasting on: 11/20/14
Glass: Pilsner

Aroma: Overtones of chocolate, tart cherry, bourbon and salted soft pretzel. Undertones of caramel malt and hops.  9/10

Appearance: Black with brown highlights. Light tan head. Excellent clarity. 9/10

Flavor: Bourbon and dark roasted malt in the beginning leads into deep, rich cherry balanced by minor sweetness. Hop bitterness complements cherry tartness in the end. Washed out malt sweetness and cherry combine in the aftertaste, but cause some odd flavors. 17/20

Mouthfeel: Creamy with a medium-full body. Moderate carbonation. Appropriate alcohol. 10/10

Overall Impression: Cherry flavor is apparent throughout, but always balanced and rarely sweet. A few odd flavors show up in the aftertaste, but besides that this is a good beer with interesting complexity. 47/50

Final Score: 92%
