Hinterland – Packerland Pilsner
Hinterland – Packerland Pilsner
Pilsner
BJCP Style: 2c. Classic American Pilsner
ABV: 4.6%
Bottled
Tasting on: 10/24/14
Glass: Pilsner
Aroma: Notes of lager yeast with minor hop bitterness in the background. Occasional diacetyl, but not enough to really harm the aroma. 7/10
Appearance: Medium straw color with a bright white head. Good clarity and carbonation. 10/10
Taste: The beer begins with mild, earthy hops on a background of simple, somewhat dry, malt. The hops fade in the middle but the malt remains, before a lagered flavor and a bit of hop spice come in at the end, along with some perceived sweetness. The aftertaste is clean with some spicy hop bitterness lingering. 16/20
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Smooth throughout. No noticeable alcohol. 8/10
Overall Impression: A simple pilsner that doesn’t provide any surprises, but is well balanced and easy to drink. A nice alternative to macro-brewery “pilsners.” Packerland Pilsner would make a good addition to any gameday beer lineup. 43/50
Final Score: 84%
