Märzen Style Lager
BJCP Style: Oktoberfest/Märzen
ABV: 5.5%
IBU: 24
Bottled
Tasting on: 10/7/14
Glass: Pilsner

Aroma: A good “German” aroma, about half as prominent as a true German Oktoberfest, gets the beer off to a good start, while the spiciness of the hops and a hint of yeast show through as well. 9/10

Appearance: A dark honey color with deep shades of amber on the edges.  Well carbonated with a white head. 10/10

Taste: The beer begins with a convincing German flavor (a product of water composition, brewing technique, and ingredient choice), and continues in genuine German style with spicy but subtle hops in the middle.  The end has light notes of grain or even berry sweetness, before the flavor drops off quickly in the aftertaste, which is clean, with no lingering sweetness. 18/20

Mouthfeel: Medium to medium-light body with good carbonation. 9/10

Overall Impression: A clean, balanced beer that recreates an authentic German Oktoberfest quite well. This is probably the best American Oktoberfest I have had this year. 48/50

Final Score: 94%
